The last few years have challenged philanthropy and the communities we serve in unprecedented ways, and now more than ever your leadership in the fight for equity, inclusion and social justice matters. The pandemic, recession, and social unrest have shined a light on what we have all known for far too long, that people with disabilities have been disproportionately impacted by each crisis, each budget cut, and each roll back of civil rights. Simply put, social justice requires disability inclusion.
In recognition of the urgency of disability inclusion, Philanthropy WV has signed on to the Disability Inclusion Pledge. I hope that you will join us in pledging to embark on a journey to disability inclusion by signing on.
Thank you in advance for considering the Pledge. This FAQ may be helpful in your review. Please use this form to let us know if you will sign. And don’t hesitate to reach out with any questions to Emily Harris, Director of the Presidents’ Council on Disability Inclusion in Philanthropy, at emily.harris@disabilityphilanthropy.org.
To assist you on your disability inclusion learning journey, the Disability & Philanthropy Forum offers a robust set of web-based resources. In addition to signing onto the pledge, signing up for free Forum membership will give you and your staff access to interactive learning sessions and a community of support.
We look forward to learning together as we continue on the journey to disability inclusion. Your leadership will be an important signal to philanthropy and the communities we serve that disability is essential to our shared social justice vision.
Sincerely,
Paul Daugherty, Philanthropy WV President and CEO
