EAG Meeting, December 6, 2022 – Year End Gathering

In this last gathering of the EAG for 2022, we were joined by guest speaker Dr. Carla Warren of the WV Department of Education. Dr. Warren discussed the Grow Your Own WV Pathway to Teaching Initiative, with special emphasis on the apprenticeship model. Please see this recent segment from journalist Soledad O’Brien’s show “Matter of Fact” featuring more information about the initiative.

In addition to Dr. Warren’s presentation, the group updated one another on accomplishments in our education this year and discussed setting collective priorities for our work together in 2023.

Education Affinity Group (EAG) Strategy Session 3.0 – June 8, 2022

Philanthropy West Virginia hosted our Education Funders Affinity Group for a strategy session on Wednesday, June 8th from 12:00 to 3:00 PM.

Coming off a very successful past two years of progress with the EAG’s work, this is a time to review, reset, and focus on the EAG 3.0 focus. The focus of the meeting is on evaluating the major progress made the past three years, identifying future collaboration opportunities, engaging national partners, and setting our goals for the next two years.


North Central West Virginia Regional Funders Roundtable – May 3, 2022

We are joined by guest speaker Christal Crouso, Executive Director of the Fairmont Morgantown Housing Authority, who will provide an overview of their work and detail a current need for Homeowner Counselors.

The Fairmont Morgantown Housing Authority is a quasi-governmental agency that brings government assisted programs, private partners, and community service programs together. They offer services in housing, lending, construction, development, and redevelopment across the area


Federal Funders Roundtable – April 4, 2022

Philanthropy West Virginia and its members set the priority to leverage their collective grantmaking to attract more investments to the Mountain State to ensure thriving communities. This includes a focus on community economic development, education, workforce, downtown revitalization, health, nonprofit capacity, entrepreneurship, broadband, and other areas.

Philanthropy WV is pleased to host the U.S. Economic Development Administration, U.S. Department of Agriculture, and the Appalachian Regional Commission to advance this collaborative work to align philanthropic, federal funders, and nonprofits to increase the impact in West Virginia and central Appalachia.


West Virginia Policy Institute – January 11, 2022

Learn how to turn your passion for your nonprofit work into advocating for your cause during the 2022 West Virginia Policy Institute.

We are joined by Caitlin Cook of the Mountaineer Food Bank; Rebecca McPhail of the WV Manufacturer’s Association; Crystal Good of Black by God and THE WEST VIRGINIAN; and Chris Hall of Orion Strategies join us for a facilitated discussion on the Do’s and Don’ts for Nonprofit Advocacy.

Participants will also learn how to navigate the legislative website to follow bills and issues that are important to the nonprofit sector – and your organization – this session.


Corporate Responsibility Roundtable – Dec 13, 2021
